Is a caveat filed in local court applicable in a HIgh Court?

Situation : I have a land of 50 cents in ramanadhapuram dist. As we are living away from the land,we gave the land to my aunt to take care for the last 8 years. Now we want to move in to the land, But my aunt didn't let us to get in and claiming the land by showing an unregistered document.and threading us by using manforce. But the land is registered in my mother's name and also have pata, UDR & SLR also have my mothers name, there is no mark in my aunt or her fathers name in any of the documents. So we decided to take the matter into the police station, They advised us to get a stay order from High Court by stating we need a police protection. We also applied for a stay order in Madurai High Court.BU my aunt send us a caveat petition today.will that caveat is also applicable in HIgh Court and also what can I do further in this matter? I appreciate if you could take time in sharing your knowledge in this matter.Thank you.
