Delhi High Court, Present Chief Justice Gorla Rohini will retired on Thursday 13th April and Justice Gita Mittal, the Senior most Judge of the Delhi HC will take charge as Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court from 14th April 2017.
As per the constitution of India, power conferred by Article 223, “president is pleased to appoint Justice Gita Mittal, Senior Most Judge of Delhi high Court, to perform the duties of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 14th April.
Justice G Mittal graduated from Campus Law Centre in 1981. Whereas in 2004,
she was appointed as Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court and was made permanent in year 2006. She has authored many significant judgments and was also instrumental in the establishment of vulnerable witness deposition complexes in Delhi. In 2009, she had authored a judgment laying down elaborate guidelines for dealing with child witnesses. She has also part of of various committees.
